Quietech Associates, Inc. was incorporated in New Jersey in 1984. It began as a company providing sales of sound enclosures/covers for dot matrix printers (hence the QUIETech). The Hannebrink family relocated to Nevada County soon thereafter and Ben began providing IT support to the local residents.
Ben also partnered with Harvest Computers, which was on Maltman Drive, to teach classes such as Basic Computer, DOS, data management, WordPerfect, Lotus 123, and dBase. In 1990, Ben stopped teaching classes to provide IT support full-time until his retirement in 2013, when he passed the torch to his daughter Melissa Hannebrink .
Melissa frequently insisted upon accompanying Ben along for the classes he taught when she was a child. Likely as a result, Melissa developed an early interest in computers and taught herself HTML programming at the age of 12.
For her senior project in 1998, she started a web design business, which morphed over the years into providing computer support and training as well.
Since taking over Quietech, she has opened a storefront, gone from a "one-man-show" to seven staff people, and greatly expanded Quietech's service offerings.
